The Gift of Dissention

This is a 10-session weekly program, designed for all leaders who have a difficult time dealing with conflict and confrontation.

Who would rather avoid or delay a sensitive conversation than handle it as soon as possible? This is for the leader who knows they must become better at resolving interpersonal differences, tensions, and disagreements.

If this is stirring something within you, stick with it. Don’t shut it off, dismiss it, or find excuses to say “no” to you. Decide and commit to joining me. That’s it.

Outcomes:

  • Courage to have the conversations we’d rather not have, making real requests, and taking action

  • Build more meaningful and rich relationships

  • Learn to see conflict differently and feel more confident to deal with difficult people and situations

  • Learn the skill and the framework to accountability

  • Confidently be able to tell people what they don’t want to hear; and listen, without becoming defensive, to what we don’t want to hear

  • Identify the problems and solve the challenges that interfere with our emotional health and work performance

  • Become fully aware of the tension of feedback and learn the steps to effectively give and receive it well

Conflict

“Conflict is the beginning of consciousness.”

M. Esther Harding

So often in business and life, we leave things unsaid. We’re afraid of confrontation and afraid of the outcome of difficult conversations. Avoiding or minimizing the importance of these very hard verbal exchanges, deteriorates some of the most important relationships in our lives.

During our time together, we learn fundamental principles and discuss tools that we can use to have real dialogue in some of the most important areas of our lives.

Courageous & Difficult Conversations

“When we avoid difficult conversations, we trade short-term discomfort for long-term dysfunction.”

Peter Bromberg

As leaders, we are faced with having to take the initiative and address the elephant in the room and/or break the ice to bring solution, clarity, and lessen stress. Those touchy, often sensitive, and widely avoided issues cannot be brushed under the rug.

Difficult conversations may never be easy, but there are ways to make those conversations both productive and as painless as possible.

The Quality of Feedback… Is the Difference

“The key to learning is feedback. It’s nearly impossible to learn anything without it.”

Steven D. Levitt

A key characteristic of a good leader is they can reach results by inspiring and motivating their people. The ability of a leader to receive feedback and give it, allows for the opportunity to build trust, and continue creating team momentum. In this training session we will learn and practice the essentials of giving and receiving feedback.

Accountability

“Accountability is the glue that ties commitment to the result.”

Bob Proctor

How many times have we chosen silence over speaking up about something that we knew needed to be brought to someone’s attention? How many times have we hid, have we dismissed or ignored the urging within to say something?

When we don’t hold people (or ourselves) accountable for their actions, we are only able to achieve mediocre results.

Forgiveness

“Forgiveness is a virtue of the brave.”

Indira Gandhi

One of the key components we neglect to consider as an essential piece of conflict is that it usually requires some level of forgiveness.

We must remember that as leaders we are most likely going to make mistakes, execute erred calls and at times we will lack compassion and wisdom.

Forgiveness is crucial because we are dealing with humans, including and foremost ourselves.
